I’m having fun but I need to stop and update you while there is still Sun enough left in the studio to photograph where I am:
The white pastel is going the same fate as the dove mauve, which I actually decided is a dusty peach — it does have a bit of yellow casting to it —
I’m going to be done with this piece soon — and/or reach a place where I sit back and study it to see what it needs — it’s definitely gone its own way — as you can see from the painting of Atacama I did — it’s closer, more abstract — not sure how that happened but I’m okay with the shapes I’m developing — they seem to have a rhythm and similar proportion — it’s not so easy to edit with pastels, as it is with acrylics — so I have to be more aware of where I am at a given time —
I met this amazing painter once — and he had such a carefully developed symbology that he had some ideas about, but which were a mystery even to him, open to subjective review by anyone — unique interpretations — I’ve always wanted a symbology like that, and these mountains seem to be opening themselves to that — who can say?
Speaking of unique interpretations, someone should show me how to do this sometime: project words, say my word collections — load them in some kinda database and project them either randomly or with a great formula — and let people view the words and come up with their own impressions in a darkened room — just the words on the wall — someone tell me how?
