Here is the beginning of my work on the new piece, which I am thoroughly enjoying. It requires lots of layers, and lots of restraint, to continue to look at the photo and not just go wild with lots of abstract veining and whatnot, because the colors are so inspiring. I had to promise myself another piece in the future where I can just play with these colors, so that’s something else to look forward to, eh? Mmmm, yes!
I also decided, while resting yesterday afternoon, that I should continue up the vein on the left, repairing where I went a bit wild off the photo scale, because there is the most beautiful section in the photograph that I want to display/explore, not miss out on, etc. Then, continue to move in waves up and down, or down and up to the right, until I’m done with the initial framing of the piece, including the Shaman, because otherwise I’ll smudge myself into a corner, kind of, and I’d rather avoid that. I had initially thought of working from the corners in, saving the Shaman for last, but then realized the smudging factor, elbows, wrists, doncha know? So … there you have it.
Very excited about this piece, that’s for sure.
