New Waterscape Begun …

No sketch, just the same Yoga Journal photograph to inspire me, such lovely colors, my main challenge that I’m not painting the yogini wrapped in white in the middle, so I have to make up the shapes. This one has a cellular feel, and I just flipped it upside down. Now it has a horizon.

I had to rest a good deal today to get the energy to paint, but it was well worth it. Now I have to rest again, spent for a while, but very happy with my progress. May paint more if I get a second wind. Yay!

My intent was a very soft Rothko-esque, very minimalist-shaped waterscape, but I have all these shapes and forms to play with in the painting, so many colors overlapping, it’s too much fun. While I was painting, I was reminded of the incredible detail with which I would paint my early cloudscapes in watercolor. How fun to detail the hell out of something again. Hmmm.

Yesterday’s play was soooo incredibly well acted that we all laughed and laughed a great deal — much-needed. I crashed pretty much when I came in, but the armoire had come, and it is a lovely piece, although we have asked to have the bedroom door taken off to allow us space to truly use it.

Very cool today and this week in comparison to weeks past and we are already enjoying it — yum! A bit of Spring returns!
