This morning on walkies we officially met the Salvation Army man walking to work at Safeway. His name is Marciel and he looks to be in his eighties, Latino American? He has wonderful Spanish diction and said that he could tell that I had studied Spanish somewhere and he appreciated it. I said that it was my major at university, etc. and he introduced himself. No requests for donations, as is his constant job every sentence-worth no matter the weather and the bell constant ringing over the donation pail in front of Safeway. He’s off right now. As I walked away I thought how fortunate I am to be able to converse with him, which what delighted him so. The ability to converse before work.
I always want to talk about literature to people when I meet them in Spanish and they usually look at me like I’m from another planet. I have to hold myself back. Then I usually want to talk about their culture’s or world history. I have to hold myself back on that one, too. Most of my vocabulary is there. Oh well.
Back to the novel. Today a bit of research on Nefertiti … and there’s that reference to John Donne I have to repair. Hee. I love this. Then for real, I’m almost ready to upload. I’ll be reading up on how and such. Wow. ~~~ Gives me goosebumps ~~~
Then I’ll rest and then I’ll be to painting, which I sorely miss. Yesterday I ended up with the worst headache. Trying to avoid that today.
Well, hold my breath, just uploaded the novel to Kindle publishers for their 48 review — with the holiday we shall see — sent them a note saying I tried not to be too graphic and that I used whole poems for a reason and gave them the reason and etc with the copyright permissions and etc — and we shall indeed see —
wow — ?
now to eat and rest — then to paint —
I had to stop before I finished the painting, or close, really … to give you an update …
I really love looking at it from different angles — maybe put a spin frame on the back somehow — ha!
Part crustacean, part ancient lock and hinge, ? it is really a mystery to me, coming from a flower sketch — but such as it is …
I may indeed finish it within the next hour — stay tuned —
